THE ORIGIN OF THE HONEYMOON:
There are several versions of how the honeymoon originated, one of them is that in ancient Rome, the people spread drops of honey on the doorstep of the newlyweds.
Another version states that among the Germanic peoples it was customary to marry on the new moon, and the bride and groom carried a mixture of water and honey, called mead, to drink in the moonlight.
The earliest version is two thousand years before Christ, in Babylon, where normally the bride's father offered his son-in-law Mead to be consumed in the 30 days immediately after the marriage, when the bride and groom celebrated their marriage together.
At the time, the count of days was made by the lunar calendar, which is why this period of celebration was known as "honeymoon".
There was a popular tradition that newlywed couples should consume this drink during the first lunar cycle after the wedding to give birth to the first child.
